Greetings Chiefs!

As I previously mentioned in some write-ups that the volume on Magic Eden is clocking Higher Highs every other day, but I do think the top isn’t in yet.

26th of April, remember the date, this is going to be the toughest test for the servers of Magic Eden. The mints with one of the most active communities and one of the most hyped-up socials are going to clash on the same day.

Here in this write-up, we are going to talk about one of them.

Orcs, this name has been in the space for quite a long time and when I say long I mean “loooooooong” (maybe a little more). You must have heard the teams saying that we are going to build first and then we will present ourselves to the community, well the ORCS took that seriously and they were in a building phase since last year.

The first tweet of the project came on the 10th of October 2021 and the date of the mint is decided to be as 26th of March 2022.

But what took them so long to launch that they travelled through so many bull and bear runs of the Solana NFT Space.
Let’s talk about it.

Before we move ahead, the mint information about the project is as follows:

Supply: 8888

Cost: 2 Sol

Time: 5:30 pm UTC (Presale) | 8 pm UTC (Public sale)

Now Let’s first talk about what the game is all about:

The ORCS is a play to earn card game launching on the Solana Ecosystem where players take heroes through challenging card battles, giving the player to choose from 4 different factions ( each faction has its ultimate magic Power), with the main motive to earn $ORCS. In The Orcs, players can compete with each other in 1 vs 1 card battles, ranked PvP, player vs AI opponent and Faction Wars.

There will be different modes in which the game can be played:

  1. Duel Mode: Here the players will have to compete with each other in a 1v1 match. The main goal of the PvP match is to defeat your opponent by any means.
  2. Ranked Mode: Here you will fight with opponents of equal skill sets. The search for an opponent is done by selecting between players with similar ranks. Your main goal is to win battle after battle and increase your rank. There will be 9 rank types in Ranked Mode:
    8. Notorious
    7. Mysterious
    6. Exalted
    5. Legendary
    4. Immortal
    3. Ancient
    2. Modern
    1. Young
    0. Unranked
  3. Adventure Mode: If you don’t feel like playing with another human, you can choose this mode and do a battle with the AI. Open the game map and move through it, defeating your opponents, passing level after level.
  4. Faction Wars: Where is the fun in the game when you can’t play with it your friends. This is a mode where you can team up with other players to earn increased rewards, fighting with members of other factions.

As I said above there will be 4 different factions, these will be

  1. Loraxes: Descendants of the Neanderthals. Very aggressive and violent. Highly intelligent. Masters of torture using red-hot rods, iron hooks, and quilts. These Orcs are Addicted to cannabis.
  2. Magnatals: Descendants of the Cro-Magnon. Their advanced intelligence, along with their penchant for beauty, made these creatures excellent engineers. Able to learn the exact sciences. They gave rise to cities, mines, and blackjack casinos in the catacombs.
  3. Solars: Crazy about money. They do all sorts of operations with numbers in their head. They created the perfect financial system for an underground Orc colony and imposed taxes on beards.
  4. Zurianes: The most uneducated Orcs, descended from the ancient people of Flores. In the catacombs, their role is attendants. They are usually hired to do hard, low-paying jobs: as slaughterers in the mines, construction workers, and cashiers in OrcFood.

Now you have your favourite cards and your favourite factions but what if you want to upgrade the existing cards to make them more powerful?

Here, crafting comes into play:

After winning battles in any of the modes with a 15% chance, which you can increase with the help of a Battle Pass, you can get random Elements that allow you to create and upgrade warrior cards, spells, and buffs.

Apart from crafting there is one more option to upgrade your cards and that is synthesis.

Synthesis will allow you to combine two cards of the same rarity to obtain a card that is rarer than the combined ones for which you have to pay a small transaction fee in $ORCS. However, you can’t combine legendary cards.

Once you start playing the game, there will be 2 different types of rewards waiting for you:

(a) In-game Rewards

On winning different battles, the players will be provided with these in-game rewards:

Common Cards and Sets
Taunts
Cosmetics
Interface Design

However, you will have an option to increase your chance to get better rewards. How?

Battle Pass: The Battle Pass is a seasonal reward system and it provides players with a variety of opportunities to reach a high level.

(b) Starter Rewards

As a token of respect to the holders, the project will give each NFT holder in-game bonuses with the first game launch and during the seasons. These rewards will be based on rarities.

Now, if you think that the project is all about the card game, you are hardly mistaken because the team has some great plans ahead.

Expedition

This will be the part where you will be able to interact with your ORCS nft. It allows you to explore new locations, earn $ORCS tokens and allows obtaining useful items that will open up even more options to engage with your Orcs.

There will be different types of the expedition made available to the holders to choose from:

(a) Dating in the Tavern: The whole idea of this expedition is for you to start your ORC’s family. The usual place to hang out in OrcLand is the local tavern, where Orcs usually come to drink beer and watch soccer. After successful completion of the expedition, you will get the Lady ORC nft.

(b) In Search of Lands: The main idea of this expedition is for your ORC to build their dwelling. After successful completion of the expedition, you will own a Land in the game.

Why would you need land?

  1. It will increase the staking multiplier and it will allow you to breed your Genesis ORC.
  2. It will give you an option to earn passive income by renting out your land and your house to other players
  3. Breed a baby ORC

There will be 3 different ways to get land:
1. By sending your ORC on an expedition
2. You can buy those lands with the help of $ORCS.
3. You can also rent land from other owners for a period of 1 / 3 / 6 / 9 / 12 months and you have to pay rent either in $SOL or $ORCS.

Once you have the land, now you need to build a house on that land.

Here you will need the following things:
1. have land in your wallet
2. Have at least 1 ORCS NFT
3. Have 1 toolkit
4. Some $ORCS to burn

What is a toolkit?
A toolkit is something which can be found on an expedition or can be purchased through the in-game marketplace.
Toolkits will also have rarities and these rarities will later decide the rarity of your house and the time it will take to build your house.

You can also use multiple ORCS (at most 5) to build your house much faster.

If you think playing the game will be an escape for you from the realities of the world, you are wrong.

Because once you have a land, you will have to pay a “LAND TAX”, regularly. On the failure of which your property will get confiscated and it will get auctioned off to the other players.

Mutation

In case you felt the need to change the appearance of your ORC you will get an option to mutate it.
To turn an orc into a mutated one, you will need
1. A Genesis ORC or a Lady ORC
2. The Mutagen NFT
3. Some $ORCS to burn

As a result of the Mutation process, the Orc inherits the traits of an ape, its appearance will change. Holder of the upgraded Orc will get x2 staking rewards.

This will not be any new collection, rather the Mutation replaces the image and metadata of the modified Genesis / Lady Orc.

Also, if you don’t feel like turning your ORC into an APE, there will be more mutation options which will give you an option to turn your ORC into anything that you desire. Such as:

Breeding

Once you get your hands on your Lady ORC, you will be given an option to let your ORCS plan a family and continue its legacy.

Here you will need:
1. Both the Genesis and the Lady ORC
2. A Developed House on your Land
3. Some $ORCS to burn

It will take 15 days for the baby orc to take birth, which can be further reduced to 7 days by burning some more $ORCS. The max supply of Baby ORCs will be 8888.

Once you use your Genesis and Lady ORC to breed a baby orc, it will take them 15 days to start the process again, which again can be reduced with the help of burning some $ORCS.

Each next breeding process will cost more than $ORCS to burn.

But what if you don’t have both parents?

Don’t worry, the ORCS Team got you. They have planned a special dating app to find a couple to start the breeding process.

Doing this will give you an opportunity to charge for providing such services in both $SOL and $ORCS.

Evolving

Now you have a Baby ORC as well. But it has to grow up and it can’t stay a baby for too long right?

Evolving gives you an option to evolve your Baby Ape into a Gen 2 ORC and the process will take 30 days.

For this process you need to have:
1. Baby Orc NFT
2. Growth Elixir
3. A Developed House on your Land
4. Some $ORCS to burn

Growth Elixir can be found on expeditions and if you are not that lucky the same can be bought through the in-game marketplace.

GEN2 Orcs will be integrated into The Orcs Metaverse through Portal, in the process of becoming a 3D version.

Recruitment

If you remember I mentioned a couple of times that you will get an option to rent out your ORCs NFT or your land to other players who don’t have The Orcs NFT or don’t have enough amount NFT for any interaction.

There will be a recruitment section in the in-game NFT Marketplace where you will be able to rent out things.

There will be a chat room as well, where you can discuss with the other players about the terms and conditions of the contract and the amount you want to charge for such services.

Now since I have mentioned so many advantages of the token $ORCS, let us take a look at the tokenomics:

Tokenomics

The $ORCS token is the only and the main currency of the game and its ecosystem. The total supply of the token is 100,000,000 with 35% of the total supply kept reserved for the players and the Ecosystem.

There will be a linear distribution over 4 years which will start from approx. 2 months after the game's release.

ORCS NFT STAKING

Now there will be 30% of the tokens kept for this linear distribution over 4 years which will be used in:

  1. Genesis ORCS Staking: 20% of the supply (20,000,000)
  2. Lady ORCS Staking: 7.5% of the supply (7,500,000)
  3. Baby ORCS Staking: 2.5% of the supply (2,500,000)

$ORCS Staking

Apart from NFT Staking, there will also be an option to stake $ORCS (15% of the supply) which will allow the holders to earn APR Yield.

The staking model involves division into two pools, the percentage of which is: Flexible 5,000,000 $ORCS (5% of total supply), Locked 10,000,000 $ORCS (10% of total supply).

Liquidity Pool

This will include 8% of the supply (8,000,000) with a linear distribution over 4 years. The liquidity pool will allow earning yield as a reward for staking $ORCS in the liquidity pool.

The $ORCS Liquidity Pool holds a balance of two tokens, $ORCS and $USDC.

There will be initial liquidity of $125,000 $USDC added to the Liquidity Pool, which equals $156,250 $ORCS at an initial token price of 0.8.

Apart from the initial liquidity, 10% of the mint funds will be added to the liquidity pool and once a month 30% of all collected royalties will be added to Liquidity Pool.

Team

6,000,000 $ORCS (6% of total supply) tokens will be allocated to The Orcs team. Cliff for 2 years, linear vesting for 2 years.

DAO Treasury

3,000,000 $ORCS tokens (3% of the total supply) will be allocated to the treasury. Cliff for 6 months, linear vesting for 2 years.

Marketing

The remaining 3% of the supply (3,000,000) will be used for marketing purposes with a linear distribution over 18 months.

The first and most important question that arises here is whether will there be any utility associated with the token which will not let people dump it as soon as they get it.

Well, there are quite a few utilities:

  1. In-Game Marketplace where you will be able to buy things like battle passes, growth elixir, and mystery boxes, which will later help you to earn more tokens.
  2. Staking:

  5. Building your own house
  6. Mutation
  7. Breeding
  8. Dating
  9. Evolving
  10. Recruiting
  11. Raffles and Auctions
  12. Metaverse Purchases
  13. Orcs Merchandise and Accessories

  15. OrcLauch

The team has planned to launch their launchpad where the projects will set aside a fixed amount of NFTs which can only be mint by using $ORCS.

There will be certain benefits provided to the holders of the NFTs

  1. Revenue Sharing: 50% of the OrcLaunch profits will be used for DAO Treasury funding, and distributed to The Orcs NFT holders. Each NFT will be a portion of the share.
  2. Whitelist Spots: The Orcs NFT holders will get guaranteed Whitelist spots.

Apart from utilities they have some other things planned to keep the value of $ORCS stable.

Buyback and Reinvestment Pool

If the price of the ORCS NFTs ever drops 10% from the mint price, the team will buy back all of The Orcs NFTs at a price below that using pool funds.

Buybacks will occur every week if the price on the secondary marketplaces is less than the mint price.

Repurchased NFTs will be locked in the DAO Treasury. A part of NFTs will be used for marketing purposes (e.g. giveaways with partners, promoters, Mystery Boxes rewards, etc.), the rest of NFTs will be decided by the DAO community, i.e. until members find a way to use them, it will be kept in DAO Treasury without usage.

Similarly, the $ORCS token will be bought back under the same conditions and the bought out tokens will be burned to add extra value to Liquidity Pool and to make the market token price stable.

Burning Mechanism

As I have discussed above, for you to start your expeditions and to start any process such as breeding, evolving and mutating you have to have some $ORCS which will get burnt after that process.

Halving

$ORCS halving refers to the event when the rate of rewards for staking in The Orcs project is reduced by 25%.

Not many details about halving have been provided yet.

THE ORCS METAVERSE

The team has a plan to go beyond the play to earn card game and develop their Metaverse with an open world, entertainment and battlefields.

OrcLand is going to be the homeland of Orcs, these lands will be divided based on each faction and later in each faction, there will be different rarities.

In the OrcLand you will find places such as:

  1. Market: Here you will be able to buy and sell particular resources for alchemy, a ready-made potion, a weapon or armour. You can also rent the equipment you need and more.
  2. The Forge: The Forge opens up the possibility of creating new equipment for the character. Resources obtained in the mine will be used to forge armour, weapons to be used during battles
  3. Laboratory: Placing a lab on your territory presents a chance for your orc to take some potions classes and create A+ potions, poisons, and mixtures.
  4. Farm: Building a farm on the plot allows each Orc to breed and cross pets. Pets will be great helpers in any battle, and can also be excellent guards of your territory and these can be bred to be sold on the market.

In total there will be 13554 plots. For living 10000, for farming 3400 (mines, trees, plants, etc.), markets 150 and 4 Faction bases.

Rarities of Lands will be as follows.

Common: 60% of the total amount of land.

Uncommon: 25% of the total amount of land.

Rare: 10% of the total amount of land.

Epic: 4% of the total amount of land.

Legendary: 1% of the total amount of land.

The concept here is very simple that is you have to build your land. The more buildings you will build, the better your village becomes. In addition, lands are valuable assets that can be sold and exchanged in the marketplace as NFTs.

Apart from this, there will be an in-game token $ORCLND, which is being distributed to the landholders on a daily basis, based on their land rarity.

What other things can be done in the OrcLand?

Interact: Here you will be able to create hangout spaces and can battle with other players for a chance to earn $ORCLND.

Explore: Lands are the entry point into The Orcs Metaverse, where you can do quests, mine resources and trade them.

Create: Lands give you the ability to build new structures, breed animals and craft equipment to improve your hero.

This was all about what the project THE ORCS is about.

To conclude I would say, one thing is very clear about the project the team has done some great work since last year in designing the concept and details of the game. The documents have been prepared with so much depth that you will find all the answers you are looking for about the project, and that shows Professionalism.
The game itself has everything you want and need to have an engaging community.

The token of the game has some great utilities associated with it which will again help the holder to earn passive income and the tokenomics looks good as well.

Speaking of the engagement, they are one of the most anticipated mints in the Solana NFT Space for months.

On Discord, they have managed to build a strong community of 81,000 members and they have around 880 people boosting their server.
In terms of reactions, they are clocking an average of 3,000 reactions per post in their announcement and sneak peek channels.
They have all the big Sol NFTs personalities in their discord and all the other big DAOs as well.
The founder himself is very active on the discord with around 1700 messages till now.

Speaking of Twitter, they has around 150,000 followers on Twitter and they have been fairly active throughout. In terms of engagement, they are getting an average engagement of around 3k likes on their recent posts around 20,000+ on their Whitelist Giveaways.

As per the roadmap, the main focus of the team after the mint will be to set up the DAO and launch the staking of both the NFTs and the token and get on with the expeditions and the other processes.

The Launchpad is set to launch in Phase 3 after the whole evolving process gets completed.

The game is set to launch in Phase 4 of the roadmap (no official dates have been given) which is kind of offsetting since the community has waited for so long.

And lastly, the metaverse launch has been put under Phase 5 with no such dates provided.

With all the good things there are some things to take care of:

  1. Okay Bears is launching on the same day just as the ORCS and they clearly the number 1 priority of the public as of now. And the demand in the secondary market will get divided for sure.
  2. The Game of the project is not going to get launched for a long time which may create some restlessness among the holders, however, there are other things which will get on board as soon as the mint finishes
  3. I have not seen many tweets from any Big Sol Influencers regarding the project which is quite surprising to me

I would rate the project 3/5, after reading the whitepaper of the project and the things that have been planned by the team to provide value to its holders.
One more reason for giving such a score is that right now everything is on paper and the game will release at a later date, so I would want to see how the team develops all the things that they have mentioned in the roadmap before I give a higher rating.
