Greetings Chiefs!

It has been a really slow weekend in the Solana NFT Marketplace with a couple of mints pushing their launch dates in the next week and some of them shutting down. To be honest, it is good to have such slow days after a week where projects like Cosmic Ape Crusaders, Faded Foxes, Fellow Apes, Vault-X, and Tamashi Soul happened. It helps in making a balance and will also help preserve the demand for the projects that deserve it truly.

The slow days are coming to an end. You must have heard the phrase “WINTER IS COMING”, well the winter is here and starting from tomorrow there will be mints of huge projects coming one after the other.

And the onus of starting such a power-packed week is on the shoulders of Smoke Heads.

So who are they?

In brief, Smoke Heads is a project with a derivative art inspired by Mindfolk and the new meta of stoned pfps which gathered a lot of attention recently. That is pretty much all the information I have about them.

So before moving forward let me share the mint details with you:

Supply: 4420

Cost: 1 Sol

Time: 4 pm UTC (WL) | 7 pm UTC (Public)

Now, let us talk about the project in detail:

Team: There have been a lot of accusations put on the team of Smoke Heads and we will go through them one by one.

  1. They have been accused of increasing the supply of the mint from 777 to 4420 after acknowledging the demand they got because of their art. However, they have deleted this part from their discord and no firm answers have been provided yet. The reason provided for increasing the supply is that they have got some insane demand, apparently 10k+ discord members in 6 hours of launching the project and they felt so humbled after witnessing the hype that they decided to increase the supply from 777 to 4420 (almost 6 times of original supply) as they believe the project deserves a bigger community and a bigger community makes a bigger impact. By that reason, Mindfolk and Taiyo should have increased the supply of their project to 10k.
  2. The second thing that most people didn't like about the team is that they are rushing the mint so hard that it's not even a week since they launched their Twitter and Discord. The first tweet of the project came on the 11th of April. The discord was also opened on the same day. And the effects of such a rush are pretty evident as they don’t even have a website, a whitepaper, any details about the tokenomics, and not even a medium article about the project. They didn’t even had a mod to take an eye over the chats up until a couple of days back and because of this very reason, they revoked the whitelist of a lot of members as they wanted to do the process from the beginning just to avoid any mistakes.
  3. They have been so eager to get the mint done that they didn’t even edit their roadmap and there are a couple of grammatical as well as spelling mistakes in the roadmap they have posted on their discord server.

Roadmap: There is nothing refreshing in their roadmap except one thing there will be 3 different levels of the Smoke Heads NFT and you need to have their governance token $SMOKE in order to level up your NFT. Once the NFT reaches level 3 it can be combined with 3 such NFTs and a legendary NFT can be formed. Later these Legendary NFTs will get auctioned and the holders as well the artist will receive royalties.

Art: This is one of their strongest points as it seems like the community loved their art. It is true that their art is not original but a derivative of the Mindfolk art. But I loved the way they have transitioned this art to get the smoky vibes. It is not looking like a cheap copy but rather a different version of the same project.

One thing that is still in my mind is that the NFTs were originally created to cater to the supply of 777 and not 4420 and how are they going to manage this big of a supply with the same art as they haven’t pushed the mint date back.

Engagement: They have been getting some great engagement since day 1. They have used the name of Sol Hub DAO multiple times in their discord and also mentioned that the founder of the DAO (@koolk123456) really loved the art and they have helped them get this much traction. I honestly believe this is by far the only point that I could lay my trust on because apart from this there aren’t a lot of convincing factors about the project.

They have managed to create a strong discord of over 21,000 members and they are clocking an average engagement of 700 reactions per post. However, I haven’t seen any influential personalities in their discord yet. Apart from discord their twitter also got around 18,000 followers and they have been really active since the time they launched their Twitter and have around 160 tweets till now.

To conclude, I would say that I am not impressed by the first look of the project. There are way too many reasons to believe that the team is not serious and is taking the advantage of the hype they gathered.

One of the reasons for the hype is that as I mentioned at the start of the article that there have been a lot of slow days in the space and the people are willing to put their money into anything or everything. Also lately, a lot of good stoned pfp projects did well on the secondary marketplace so there always is that FOMO factor that makes people mint the next best thing.

Irrespective of the fact that they don’t have a website and they launching a 6-day-old project, I think there is a slight chance that they could do well because it seems like the crowd doesn’t care much about these red flags and they have seemed to love the art.

I won’t rate the project because there isn’t anything worth evaluating.

As always DYOR.
